📓 Phoenix’s Journal – July 13, 1985
Found this in the back of the bookstore—thought it looked cursed. Felt right. The fog came in fast again. Faster than I’d ever seen. The whole harbor disappeared in under five minutes. I don’t care what the grown-ups say—that’s not normal. Nothing in this town is.
The Castle on the Hill is lit again. That’s what the locals call Fairhaven High School.
I swear I saw someone in the tower window. Just standing there. Watching. But no one’s supposed to be there this late. Not since the disappearances. Not since the fear. This place doesn’t want me here. I can feel it. The seagulls don’t even fly over it anymore. It’s like they know something is off.
People are disappearing. Two this summer. No bodies yet. All of them were probably torn up like something ripped them apart. The cops will probably say animal attacks, but who’s buying that? This is Fairhaven, not the goddamn jungle.
I went back to the rectory tonight. Just me, a flashlight, and a stupid plan. Found a box behind the boiler. Old velvet ribbon, black lace, bloodstained pages. Someone wrote in it—but not in English. It looked…wrong. Like the letters were trying to crawl off the paper, leaving their blood prints behind.
I swear I heard whispering. Swear it said my name.
I ran.
I know something’s coming. I can feel it in my bones. In the static that climbs up my spine when I pass the castle. This time, the dark isn’t hiding. It’s waiting for me. And I think it knows who I am now.
If I vanish, tell someone the truth:
It’s not a bear.
Don’t go near the castle.
And if the fog talks to you—don’t listen.
Seriously. Don’t.

P.S. You ever hear something knock on your window past midnight?
You ever see shadows move the wrong way?
You ever know something’s in the room with you, even when you’re alone?
Tell me. I need to know I’m not the only one.
